Hometown Hero

As part of the summer reading program at Oswego Public Library. Native American Fancy Dancer, Gene Ortner, will give a presentation on Native American singing and dance. Ortner will be at the library on Wednesday, June 10, at 1 p.m.
Ortner is Cherokee and Seneca Indian and has been going to pow-wows and learning the art of dancing since he was five. He danced for the first time in public when he was six.  Fancy Dancing is an athletic and high energy type of dancing. Ortner crafts his own regalia for the dance and also crafts regalia pieces for other dancers.  He will speak on Native American singing and dancing.O Library Fancy Dancer
