The Library underwent a massive make-over and remodeling project this year financed in part by a grant from the Southeast Kansas Library System. Almost every area of the building has been changed or reworked in some way. In the computer area, a new four-computer desk has been installed. The Young Adult area was completely moved to the area around the fireplace and the Children’s area now includes a gigantic tree! Adult sections of the Library also saw some love; the “Front Porch” landing now houses a coffee bar sponsored by Labette Avenue with two tables ready and waiting for readers looking for a quiet place to read and sip some hot cocoa. Of course, for those more technologically inclined, those same tables make a nice spot to take advantage of the Library’s free Wi-Fi. The “stacks” were also all rearranged and all of the Library’s collection should now be more accessible. As always, let us know if you need anything; we’re always willing to help hunt down a book or look up information for our patrons!
Be sure to check out the SEKLS blog (with pictures!) of the make-over and stop by soon to see the work for yourself!
