December 17, 2019 Special Meeting

A special meeting of the Oswego Public Library Board was called to order at 5:33, December 17, 2019 by President Nancy Korinek for the purpose of end of-the-year tasks. Present were Nancy, Susan Johnson, Paula Kern, Jan Owens, Jennie Green and secretary Kristin Redburn.

Evaluations were completed on library director, Liz Turner, and collected by the president.

Paula moved we approve the minutes of the previous two meetings. Motion was seconded and carried.

In old business, a discussion was held about the fundraiser that the board assisted with for the benefit of our library director, Liz Turner. The total of funds donated was $14,540.20. The board also assisted DMKS in a bone marrow drive that day. President Korinek, susan Johnson, Acting Director, Heather Duke,and FOL president, Jill Blankinship were trained on the swabbing on December 6. A total of 14 people joined the registry thanks to the drive.

A letter of resignation of the library director was read. Jennie moved we accept the resignation. The motion was seconded and carried.

Jan moved we approve the hiring of Heather Duke as Library director, effective January 1, 2020 with a salary of $15 an hour. Jennie seconded and the notion carried.

Paula moved to approve all bills submitted through today’s date. Motion was seconded and carried.

Discussion was held with the acting director about closing of the library in inclement weather.

The next regular meeting will be moved to January 21, 2020 at 5:30.

Susan moved we adjourn. Motion was seconded and carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:14.
