The regular meeting of the Oswego Public Library Board was called to order by president Nancy Korinek at 5:39 on November 10, 2020. Other board members in attendance were Carol McLeod, Susan Johnson, Paula Kern, Library director, Heather Duke, and secretary Kristin Redburn.
Susan moved that we approve the consent agenda. Motion seconded and carried.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Library director, Heather Duke, reported that Floormasters will clean downstairs floors on Nov. 11. The Library has received a technology grant through SEK that will be used to replace computers that can no longer be updated. Alexa Stafford has been hired as an aide to replace MaryLynn White. We need to review our current CIPA.
The Treasurer’s report was presented by Paula. She reports that we are below budget on expenses and above the budget on income at this point in the year. Susan moved we approve the report. Carol seconded the motion and the motion carried.
Heather reported that Parents as Teachers is already offering Dolly Parton Imagination Library to children in the county, but that they are more than happy to add any from our library. Friends of the Oswego Library has offered to pay for the first years expenses for our children. Kris offered to contact Kandra Smith to see if she can send information home with her preschool students.
We still have received only one bid to replace the old air conditioning unit. Nancy will try to get a bid from Billingsley and Kris offered to contact Keith Reynolds for additional bids.
Kris reported that after researching the knockout roses, that they do best if trimmed in late February or early March. Rod Redburn has agreed to trim them.
After discussion, the operating schedule for the library will continue to be by appointment only T-F 12-6.
The new roof on the library is completed.
Nancy Has been unable to contact an iron worker about possibilities for the railing on the north entrance.
Paula moved that we approve payment of all bills presented via email and at this meeting from July through October be paid. Motion was seconded and carried.
The board reviewed the CIPA document. Paula moved we approve the document as written. Carol seconded. Motion carried.
Susan moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded and carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:33.
