August 11, 2020

1 min read

The regular meeting of the Oswego Public Library Board was called to order by president Nancy Korinek at 5:34 on August 11, 2020. Other board members in attendance were Carol McLeod, Jenny Green, Susan Johnson,  Library director, Heather Duke, and secretary Kristin Redburn.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

The financial report prepared by Peggy Strickland was shared.  Carol moved we pay all bills listed May through June. Motion was seconded and carried.

Library director, Heather Duke, reported that she had been in contact with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and they are checking to see if it would be available for our library. They did say that we would need to have a 501-3C, which may be available through the school. Kris will check on that possibility.

The summer reading program has been a virtual experience this year. Enrollment this year has been slow. There have been 22 craft kits made available and the performer will be scheduled virtually next week. There is a possibility of two high school workers for the library this fall.

A thank you card from Liz was read.

We have received one bid to replace the old air conditioning unit. Nancy will try to get at least one other bid before proceeding.

Nancy reported ongoing problems with the pecan tree behind the library. She will take care of the trees sprouting. Rod Redburn will trim the rose bushes this fall.

Discussion was held about the railings leading to the north entrance. Nancy will contact an iron worker about possibilities.

Susan moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded and carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:43.

Respectfully submitted,

Kristin Redburn, secretary
